You might be able to force it to remain turned on with a macro but
typically if an add-in is found to be the cause of an issue the best
way to correct the problem is to remove the offending add-in -
especially the Adobe add-in. All of their recent add-ins have causes
some type of problem. The version you are using (7) discards any
changes you've made to Normal.dot. IOW, if you add a new AutoText
entry or make other customization they will not be saved unless you
hold Shift and use File/Close All. Their "sound" reasoning behind this
is their add-in modifies Normal.dot each time Word starts so instead
of creating a proper add-in that doesn't exhibit this behavior they
elected to discard all changes - tells you a little something about
the developer...
