I use Word 2002
I am concerned about the small box on top of the font menu, where the fonts
more frequently used (or more exactly, any font that has been used only once)
are listed.
This list has become too long so it is not useful any more.
How can I remove fonts from this llist or, alternatively, erase them all and
build a new list again

The technical term, which I had forgotten is MRUList (for most recently used
list).
There is theoretically a technique to control it (KB318796), suggesting to
install a "Word 2002 Support Template". However, after I installed it , it
did not work because Word refused to run the macros.
I have Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2007 installed and it may be why the
macros cannot be run. However, if it is the case, I do not know how to
prevent NIS from interfering.

The MRU font list option is stored in the Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options\NoFontMRUList
Edit the value for NoFontMRUList and change it to 1.
