Importing a menu item & macros from another file

Hi,

I have a word document 'A' and inside it, I have my own menu item 'XYZ'. This
menu item provides the merge fields, say 'merge field 1', 'merge field 2' ...
etc etc
The merge fields come from the macros i have written.

I have a lot of documents like 'A' and whenver I need to add a new merge
field, I have to go through following procedure, in document 'A':

1) Create a new macro
2) Add this to the menu at top.

I have to follow this procedure in ALL of the documents one by one which is
tedious.

Is there any way by which I can just add a macro and a menu item for it, in
ONE file and then import/attach it to the document 'A' and all other
documents?

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Save the document with the macro as a template. Create the new documents
from that template.

I have a lot of documents like 'A' ... on which i have already added a lot of
merge fields and also with other texts.
Now I just want to add one more menu item and macro as described in the first
message.

So I need some method, by which I can add new macro and menu item to the
existing documents instead of creating new ones.

Thanks

Save the document with the macro and toolbar as a template in the Word
startup folder and they will be available to all your documents.

Do u mean save it in "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\
Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\" folder?

But I do not want to copy it to all the word documents ... only the ones I
need to edit..

Thanks

It will not copy to any of them - merely be available to all. The
alternative solution would appear to be your manual method.
