I'd rename your customized Normal.dot, as well, before installing. With the
changed file format, I've found it a good idea to use a "native" Normal.dot
with a new version of Word.
You may want to read up on the new Ribbon that replaces toolbars. Any
customizations you've done in that regard are all going to be under a single
Tab (Add-ins). There won't be any way to change this in the UI, even using
macros. If you want the same level of customization, you're going to need to
learn to customize the Ribbon. pschmid.net is a good place to get started.

Cindy--
Thanks for your super suggestions. The idea of renaming normal.dot makes
instant sense to me. I have been reading some about the Ribbon. I gather all
one can do is "dive in" and learn. Fortunately, most of my customization is
on the keyboard not the UI. I am very much "keycentric", having gone through
an Atex mainframe and XyWrite before ending up at Word--for the sake of
compatibility. But what I would give for a command line!
Thanks so much.
