When I right-click within Word or Excel 2007, a new formatting menu
comes up above the normal context menu. I just can't stand this - it
covers my text and generally gets in my way. Is there a way to disable
it?

Thanks,
Joe

You make make not appear when you first select text, but you can't get rid
of it when right-clicking. To prevent it from appearing when you first
select text, remove the check next to Show Mini Toolbar on selection in Word
Options - Popular.
