Hi everyone,
I have Word 2003 Pro. and when I access the short keys:
ALT + T to access the Tools submenu but it does not work. What happen is that
When I do ALT+T(Tools) and press W (Word counts) - it will take me to
Windows. Or ALT+T and A (for AutoCorrect Options) - it will take me to Table
on the main menu bar instead.

Any help would be appriciated.

What happens if you press Alt, pause a moment, and then press T? Does the
Tools menu open?

Beth,
Thanks for the respond.
When I press ALT pause the File menu is highlighted - press T the Tools menu
is highlighted but does not expand the submenu. Then I press any other Tools
submenu letter say O(options) it would take me to Format on the main menu
tool bar.

Strange thing is that the submenu expand for other main menus like ALT +
F(File), ALT+E(Edit) and so on but except for ALT+T (Tools). I think some how
the ALT+T keys combination has been set to ALT. Help!

Are you able to display the Tools menu when you click it? Also, check to see
if the "T" is underlined. It could be an add-in has renamed your Tools menu
and it didn't include the accelerator or the Tools menu is malfunctioning in
general.

I can do all that by using mouse cursor and selecting Tools and any other
submenu.

Do you think it is wide to reset the Keyboard customsied short cuts in
Tools\Customise?

Did you check to see if the "T" was underlined?

Unless the Alt+T was assigned to a macro or command that's no longer
available then resetting they keyboard shortcuts will likely not work. If
you haven't assigned your own then you can try it. But the built-in
accelerators (the underlined letters) are controlled by another capability.

Surprise thing is "T" is underline. Do you know how can I reset all the built
in accelerator?

The accelerators are built-in functionality and there isn't a reset
capability - if the letter is underlined they should automatically work.

Try starting Word in Safe Mode and see if you are able to use Alt+T. Exit
Word and hold the Ctrl key while you start Word. Continue holding Ctrl until
you are prompted to start in Safe Mode. If it works in Safe Mode then you
might try resetting your keyboard shortcuts. It's possible Alt+T is assigned
to a macro or command that isn't available.

What is being described will happen if Alt+T is a non-unique accelerator.

After pressing Alt+T and having the "Tools" menu option highlighted, press T
again and the next menu with the same accelerator will be highlighted. You
will need to change one of them in order for the menu to automatically open
in response to the accelerator.

That's right! Thanks Tony!

So what Dee needs to do is look for another command/menu that also uses a
"T" for the accelerator.
