I'm using Word XP on XP Pro/MCE 2005. There are lots of functions that make
a DING sound when they're done. Now that I'm listening to music on my
computer while I work, I have the volume turned up. And the DING is really
L*O*U*D!
Is there a way I can make this DING go away? Or change it to another softer
sound?
Go to Windows Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia. There you'll find that
you can associate a variety of sounds (or no sound) with a variety of
actions. Disable the sound for the errors (or whatever) that are disturbing
you. Note, however, that if "Provide feedback with sound" is enabled on the
General tab of Tools | Options in Word, disabling it might be a better place
to start.
