Not sure if this is the correct news group but...

I have the latest version of Snagit installed and I am using Office 2007
Pro.  When I look under the "add-ins" ribbon, Snagit does not show.  When I
look into the customizing area and look at add-ins there are a list of
addins including Snagit.  Snagit is shown under "active Application
Add-Ins".  If I then press on "go" for manage COM Add-ins, snagit shows and
it shows that it will load on startup.  The bottom line is that I do not see
how I can use Snagit from with Word 2007.  I know that I could use Snagit
from outside Word but that is not the way it should be used.

Please advise

You're correct that the SnagIt toolbar should appear in the Add-In
ribbon of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and in the message editor of
Outlook.

You've pretty well covered what you should have done, but there might
be one more thing to investigate. Since you didn't mention it...

In my installation, the COM Add-ins dialog shows two separate items:
SnagIt Add-in (C:\Program Files\Techsmith\SnagIt
8\SnagItOfficeAddin.dll) and SnagIt Add-in.dot (C:\Program
Files\Techsmith\SnagIt 8\SnagIt Add-in.dot). The latter is the Word
2003-format template file that contains the toolbars, which should
appear on the Add-ins ribbon.

If that template doesn't appear in your COM Add-ins dialog, I would
suspect that your copy of SnagIt isn't correctly installed. A repair
of SnagIt (not Word) might help -- in Control Panel > Add/Remove
Programs, select SnagIt and click the Change button, and select the
Repair option when you see it. A more drastic option is to uninstall
and then reinstall SnagIt.

If that doesn't help, contact the support group at www.techsmith.com.

I tried doing a repair to both Snagit and Office 2007 but neither fixed the
problem.  It appears to me that none of my addins are working.  I have adobe
professional installed and it shows in the addin ribbon but does not
function.

Any ideas?

I have checked further and Snagit shows in Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel but
not in publisher.

Adobe is always a suspect when problems of this nature occur. That addin has a
nasty tendency to delete/hide/disable all toolbars originating from other
sources. Try uninstalling it and see if that makes any difference?

Thanks for your response.

Before I got your response, I uninstalled Snagit and the reinstalled it.
That completely fixed the problem.

I have same issue - open it from System Tray. But it was in add-ins on my
last 2007 Office install for Word but not on this new build I did 2 weeks
ago.
