I have problems with Office apps when using toolbar icons with drop-down
menus/boxes such as Highlight color, Font color, Autoshapes, Line Color, Fill
color. If I have multiple Office applications open (such as Word, Excel,
Outlook, etc.), sometimes when I'm working in one app and click on a toolbar
icon with a drop-down menu, the menu doesn't appear. But if I minimize the
app, I find the drop-down menu/box "floating" on the desktop or in some other
Office application. It's like Office gets confused as to which of the apps
the toolbar belongs to. Only when I close all the apps, and reopen just the
one that I was working with at the time, does this get resolved. And
sometimes when I close the apps, the "floating" toolbar menu/box is still
there and I can't get rid of it.
Definitely a bug, but I can't seem to find any posts about this. Does
anyone know if there is a fix for this? It's driving me nuts that I can't
have multiple Office apps open and use these toolbar functions.

What you're seeing suggests that your display driver isn't on good "speaking
terms" with Office. Often this sort of thing can be resolved by updating to
a later/newer display driver. I would try that route first, and then after
updating the display driver, I would try repairing Office, just to make sure
that all of its bits are present and accounted for.
