I know, Graham. I posted there earlier, but no one has answered. I'm
sure somebody here will know the answer -- I wonder, could it be
related to startup services? Something (not me) shut down the ctfmon
startup thing.
What could I offer you to persuade you to tell me the answer, just
this once? How about a nice Crab Louie? I love Louie, but my
keyboards are worth more than he is. <g>

Why are you sure someone here will know the answer - this is where people
with Word expertise hang out? Had I known the answer I would have told you.

Because many people here use multiple keyboards, and might have had
the same thing happen and know the fix; plus, you folks are very
knowledgeable. My apologies for making the assumption.

Right-click the Windows Taskbar, and choose Toolbars - Language bar. Does
that bring it back?

I got my language bar back, and would like to share the answer, in
case it happens to anybody else. I had to go to Regional Settings >
Languages > Details > Advanced and UNcheck "Allow Advanced Text
Services." The trick is to bypass the very tempting button called
"Language Bar." I now have my keyboards back.
