I don't think my word is crashed, nor do I have problems opening and saving
documents. I can not just use the right click commands. although they appear
when I right click on a picture but not in case of text. it appears only a
small pop-up window with a single command for the dictionary.
thanks

The two pages contain the main trouble shooting tips for Word. Between them
they cover 99.9% of all problems.

Not sure if it's covered in the links Graham gave, but you could reset the
context menus:
Goto "View > Toolbars > Modify... > (Toolbars tab)" or "Tools > Customize...
> (Toolbars tab)".
Select "Context menu" in the list on the left, then click on the "Reset"
button to the right.
That should set back all context menus to the factory default.
