Hello all,

Does anyone know if Microsoft is going to bring back the custom menus and
toolbars in the next word version?

Thanks

The Office development team certainly knows there's a lot of unhappiness (to
put it mildly) about the lack of customization in Office 2007. However, they
aren't yet telling anyone outside Microsoft -- and that includes the MVPs --
whether there are plans to "bring them back" or do something different, or
not to do anything in that area. You may have to wait another 6 to 12 months
or more for any information to leak out.

Meanwhile, have a look at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CustomizeRibbon.htm and
http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm.

Thanks for the information.

I think they were very useful and must be brought back ... any idea when next
office version is out?

That's even less certain than the feature set. There are some people outside
Microsoft who claim that "Here's what we know about Office: New versions
ship every two years, like clockwork."
(http://redmondmag.com/columns/article.asp?EditorialsID=1623) Umm, yeah,
that accounts for Office 97, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 ... ?? Seriously,
anything you hear before the public betas are released should be taken with
a 10-pound bag of salt.
