Locking Toolbars

Using Office XP Pro and specifically Word.

This might seem a stupid post, but I unlocked the Toolbars a few days ago
(I'm sure I did it by right-clicking a toolbar), moved them around and added
a custom toolbar of my own. The custom toolbar kept appearing as floating in
mid screen, despite having docked it, so I thought I would dock it again and
re-lock the toolbars in place. I cannot now find any way to Lock the
toolbars! Right clicking only provides the list of toolbars and Customize
where I see no option to Lock. No menu options to lock the toolbars so far
as I can see. I have tried help, and no relevant articles show. Am I going
mad?

BTW - in help, in previous versions, it was an internal help file - it now
seems that all help is directed via an online connection - is there no
internal help any more, or have I just got this set up incorrectly. It
annoys me to have to wait for online searches when Help used to be
instantaneous (more or less).

TIA

Office has never had the ability to lock toolbars. Perhaps you are thinking
of the Windows taskbar?

Regarding your question about Help, online Help was implemented in Office
2003. Is that the version you are using? If so then this article should help
you with how to configure the Help settings:

Beth,
Thanks so much for your helpful answer. I had kind of thought after googling
it a bit that I wasn't going to be able to lock the toolbars - you are
probably right about it being the task bar locking I have gone through in
the past.

The help configuration advice will be useful to follow up. Again thanks.
