Hi,

When I want to insert notes in a research paper, I can specify whether I
want them to appear at the bottom of the page (Footnotes) or at the end of
the paper (Endnotes) or both.

However, I have found only a toolbar icon for "Footnote" -- the characters
AB with  superscript 1. I can't find a similar icon for "Endnote."

I thought that if I specify that I want to use endnotes in the document,
clicking the footnote icon would insert an endnote, but it doesn't; it
inserts a footnote. I then have to convert my footnotes to endnotes
"manually."

Is there a toolbar icon I haven't discovered for inserting an endnote? Can
the footnote icon be modified to perform that function? Can a new icon be
created and programmed for inserting endnotes?

Thank you.

The InsertFootnote and Insert FootnoteNow commands both use the same icon,
which was designed for the former (which opens the dialog). You can adapt
the icon for the InsertEndnoteNow command, as follows:

1. Add both the InsertFootnoteNow and InsertEndnoteNow commands to a
toolbar.

2. Right-click on the Footnote button and choose Copy Button Image.

3. Right-click on the Endnote button and choose Default Style (which will
make it blank).

4. Right-click again and choose Paste Button Image.

5. Right-click again and choose Edit Button Image.

6. In the Button Editor, select the dark red square in the color palette to
change the color in the Color Picker. Click the button squares as needed to
copy the dark red squares of the 1 to a lower position; then use the Erase
square to change the upper red squares to the background color.
