Windows XP Pro  Word 2003
When I click on the Save Icon in the Standard Toolbar instead of saving the
file, it opens the Save As/ Save in/ My Documents box
The same applies if I go to File/Save
How can I restore it so that it just saves the document I am working on?

When the game is over, the King and the pawn share the same box.

It sounds as if the Save tool has been replaced by the Save As tool...
either that, or an add-in or virus is interfering with your saving (or Word
thinks the document you're editing is read-only).

Assuming that the alternatives aren't true, try restoring the Standard
toolbar and see if that fixes things. Tools - Customize - Toolbars tab.
Click on Standard, confirm when prompted, then click on Reset. Does the Save
tool work correctly now?
