I am setting up a template for writing school reports for
all the teachers at a school.
I have a bank of paragraphs (around 200 paragraphs) and I
need a way of using a shortcut key to paste these into
the document. (This was possible in word perfect through
insert/abbreviations) I have not yet been able to find a
simmilar option in word. In word perfect after setting it
up all you had to do was type a code, eg A1, then press
ctrl + A and the whole paragraph would be pasted into the
document.
If anyone knows the way to do this, I would be very
greatful

There are several ways of doing this. You could save the paragraphs as
Autotext entries in the template, or you could use Autocorrect and assign
your abbreviations - or you could save each as a file and use a boilerplate
macro to pick and insert as required (boiler.zip from the favourites page of
my web site).
