Older versions of Word had a selectable option to
automatically put two spaces after a period at the end of
a sentence. Is this feature gone from Word 2002? I
searched through the Tools and Format options but cannot
find this feature. If it is still available, can anyone
tell me how to invoke it?

There has never been such an option in Word (I believe there may be in
WordPerfect), but you can set the grammar check to alert you to places where
there is only a single space (Tools | Options | Spelling & Grammar).
