insert symbol

Anyone who has cats knows they love to step on
keyboards... one day, my cat did so while I had
the "insert symbol" window open, which maximized that
window.  Now, when I try to insert a symbol, that list of
symbols is always maximized.  Before, it would pop up as
a small window, such that I could still see my document
behind it.  It has no options to maximize or minimize,
and I can't drag any of the corners in.  Does anyone know
how I can fix this?  I hope the question makes sense...

Thanks for your help!
:-)

Double-click the Symbol box's title bar (at the top of the window). This
works as a shortcut for switching between maximized/restored for other
windows, as well.
