When spell checking a document, I am able to use all the
options from Ignore to auto correct, except add to
dictionary. The selection is subdued and will not allow me
to click onto it. I have several different programs that
allow me to add words in spell checking. I want to be able
to do that in Word 2000.
Thank you,
Charles

Hi Charles,

A better place to ask this is the word.spelling.grammar
newsgroup. But generally this is usually due to a language
mis-match between your text and the custom dictionary. Check
the language the text is formatted in, then go to
Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar/Custom Dictionaries and
compare that to the language of the custom dictionary at the
top of the list (this is the one new words will be added to).
Best setting to use is "no proofing" (no language) so that it
will work with any language.
