Hi, I've created a template in Word 2000 with Headings and
subheadings that are numbered. Everything looks fine on my
machine, but someone else opened it on their machine and
the numbers vanished. However, other people can view the
numbers just fine. The person with the problem is running
XP and I am not - could that be part of the problem?

It's more likely that the problem is caused by enabling "Automatically
update" in Word's style definitions on "someone else's" computer.  See
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/sharing/WillMyFormatChange.html for more
info.
