Using Word 2002.

I'm also having a TOC update entire table removes section break problem.
I've tried adding additional paragraphs and formating the first paragraph
after the TOC as "page break before" and nothing has worked.

This is a pain because I have to go back to my headers/footers to put my
numbering back to i, ii, for the TOC.

Any other places to look to resolve this problem?
TIA

I would say that the problem is still that the section break is inside the
TOC field.

When you say TOC field,I got something here I don't understand.
I

I place my insert at the end of my last TOC entry and hit Return, the
insert moves to the beginning of the next line and I show Normal in the
Style area. If I do another return I get another paragraph mark at the
beginning of the line and show Nomal in the style area. This is where I did
the Break Odd Page. Based on your response, I placed my curser next to one
of the paragraph marks I inserted and right click and sure enough it offers
Update Field! It is acting as though it is in a TOC yet the Style area
shows normal. Now when I move down to my first line of text after the TOC
and right click the Update Field option is no longer present. I can put
paragraph marks down the length of the page and they still offer a context
entry for TOC.

I guess my question is how do I establish or get out of a TOC field?
Or how do I tell Word I want the TOC to end here and resume Body or
something.

TIA

My first line of text after the TOC was a Heading Style 1 entry. I got a
break out of the TOC field by momentarily making the Heading Style 1  a
Body style, placing my insert at the beginning of the now Body Style and
doing a return. Then reestablished my Heading 1 but now I had a paragraph
mark no in the TOC field, did my break and its okay now.  Is there another
way to do this?

The safest way is to display the TOC field code (Alt+F9) and make sure that
any break you insert is outside it. As you have found, it is safer to do
this by pressing Enter at the beginning of the following paragraph. In
future, you might want to make sure that you have at least one empty
paragraph below the paragraph in which you are inserting the TOC.
