My figure captions are not numbering correctly in a Word 2002 document.  I
am
using chapter numbers with the figure caption numbers which seems to be
working okay.  However, midway through my document the figure captions
revert
to number one (e.g., 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, 4-1, 4-1 . . .). I have tried updating
the captions, but the problem persists. It may have something to do with
numbered headings in the document which are numbered in the same manner as
the captions using a heading style. When I change these headings to "Normal"
style.  The figure caption numbers 'correct themselves', but I need to keep
the heading styles to 'build' the table of contents.Can anyone help me with
dilemma?  THANKS
