Force blank page with roman numerals

I am using the field formula to force a blank page if the current page has
an even page number. The formula is the one from John McGhie's article that
uses "=MOD({page},2)" to determine if the page number is odd or even. This
worked fine in old versions of word, but in Word 2000 (XP) it only works if
pages are numbered with Arabic format. If I use Roman numerals, it fails. (I
tried dividing by "ii" instead of 2 but still no go!) I thought the internal
format for page numbers was always Arabic but apparently not. Is there
anything I can do?

Does it work if you insert the { PAGE } field as arabic (without changing
the format in the Format Page Number dialog) and add a \*roman switch to the
PAGE field? Note that even if this does work, it will probably have an
adverse effect on the TOC.

You are right, of course. When I use the flag the PAGE field returns an
arabic number and the formula works. However, the TOC now shows Arabic and I
need it to show Roman.

But that gives me an idea. I will format the page numbers in Roman. Then, I
am going to try placing a hidden text field on the page that returns the
page number in arabic. Then I will try to give that field a bookmark, and
refer to the bookmark in the formula. (I am not that great at this, so if
you think this could work and have any tips, or you have a better approach,
please let me know.) Thanks.

Yes, I think your solution will work, but "the proof is in the pudding."

Well, obviously I was hurrying, but even as I typed that it sounded absurd
to me--like one of the "True Quotes from Induhviduals" in the Dilbert
Newsletters. <sigh> Of course, the saying is "The proof of the pudding is in
the eating." Please don't turn me in to Scott Adams!
