MS Office Forum / Word / Numbering / September 2005Thesis Numbering
Hi I am unable to create the following type of numbering system for my mathematical thesis, particularly the Theorem/Definition headings. These need to keep track of the Chapter number. Any help would be much appreciated. Chapter 1 1. Introduction 1.1 Subsection 1.1.1 Subsection next level Theorem 1.1 1.2 Subsection Defintion 1.1 . Therem 1.2 . 1.4 ... Theorem 1.3 1.5 ... Definition 1.2 Chapter 2 2 Introduction 2.1 ... 2.1.1. ... Theorem 2.1 2.2 ... Definition 2.1 2.3 ... Theorem 2.2 etc Thanks Kind Regards Renay Hi Renay, Best use the built-in heading styles "Heading 1"/"Heading 2"/"Heading 3" for your headings.
