HELP! Bullets won't line up or shift in MS Word 2003

I'm having problems working in Microsoft Word 2003 with bulleting and
numbering. When I add bullets to an outline and I try to tab to get another
bullet under a main heading for a subtopic, the bullets don't automatically
change and the spacing and tabs are all screwed up. I try to tab over to see
if the bullet will change, but it just moves the cursor over while the bullet
stays in the same position.

If anyone has an idea how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. I'm having
to insert bullets by line instead of being able to insert and then type and
tab as I usually do. I've tried resetting the page layout, removing tab
stops, but I have no idea what is causing the problem.

HELP!!!!!!!!!  Thanks!

Marissa

Pinskies,
Try going to Tools - AutoCorrection options - on the last tab AutoFormat as
you type - way down under in the last section see if there is a check next
to Set first and left indent with tabs and backspace. If not check it and
try again.
