I am having some issues getting the desired page and section pag
numbering in the footer of a document. This is the first time I hav
tried to do this and the first time I have written a document of suc
length that I needed two different page numberings. It is possible t
get lost in the sections.

I have a document with an appendix which contains reports and example
and each contain section breaks. I would like to create a footer like:

Appendix - what this section is about - Page X of Y (For just thi
section, like {sectionpage} of {sectionpages}, except that the firs
one don't seem to exist, as far as I can tell)

Page X (whole document page number, used to TOC)

I have tried formatting the page number to start at the section breaks
but that resets both page numbers. I want it to reset only the sectio
page number. Is this possible? I have also tried using the chapte
numbering without success. I have been searching the newsgroups for 2
hours and I have not been able to find a solution. If anyone has an
suggestions or pointers, please let me know. Thanks

Otherwise, take a look at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Numbering/PageNumbering.htm. For even more,
see http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Page_Numbering.htm and the discussion last
week The subject was "Any way to hide fields without effectively
inactivating them?" and it was in the word.vba.general newsgroup. It
discussed what to do when you have multiple Word sections that comprise one
logical section.

We've been arguing over here with an even-more-interesting problem: sometimes
our SectionPage fields display only "1", leading to such things as "Page 2 of
1" on both display and print. Any thoughts on how to force this to update
properly? We're using Word 2K3SP2.

Thanks!

Eh. The only thing that seems to be working consistently is reversing print
order, and these are fairly large documents. Losing background printing or
setting Update Fields didn't seem to do much.

Does the PageRef solution work consistently? If it does, we can re-code the
document generation to use it.
