In an outline numbered list in Microsoft Word, when you
press TAB, the selected paragraph is indented, but the
list numbering format is not changed the same way that it
is when you click Increase Indent on the Formatting
toolbar.  TAB use to accomplish the same function.  What
happened?  I am using Word 2002, SP-2.

Hi JH

In earlier versions of Word, Tools | Options | Edit. Tick "Tabs and backspace set left indent".

In Word 2002, Tools | Autocorrect Options | AutoFormat as you Type. Tick Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces.  If
you've never visited this dialog box before, avoid the temptation to tick anything that isn't already ticked.

Hope this helps.
