Hello, I'm using Word 03.  I am using the Heading styles to numbeing my
paragraphs.  Works great.  Now I need a second and third numbering scheme in
my document, with different numbering that will not affect or be affected by
the Heading numbering.  What is the best way to go about this?  Thanks

You can link any styles you like to an outline-numbered list; see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. There are
some cases where you *must* use heading styles, however; see

Actually I have tried this and have had problems.  I will re-read this
information and make sure I'm not missing anything, but my numbering still
goes biserk from time to time.  What about the List Numbers - could those be
used successfully along with the Heading styles?  thanks

Greetings--
Have a look at John McGhie's illuminating explanations in this same
newsgroup (name of the thread is "Can't format numbering when I apply
styles (namedujour) 05/06/2006 21:42:02"). You'll find it at the following
