Hi,

How can I set a starting value for captions? I want to assign different
starting values to figures and tables on each page. The sequence of
numbering should continue from my provided value.

Toggle field codes on the number in the start point caption (or use Alt-F9
to toggle them on for the document).
Add the \r switch to the SEQ field, followed by the starting number: for
example:

{SEQ Figure \* ARABIC \r 3 } to restart the numbering of the figure sequence
at 3. (The { } are the field delimiters).

You will need to update fields for this to take effect through the document,
but later numbers in each sequence will follow on.

Also be careful not to re-visit the Caption dialog box after you've
made manual changes to the SEQ fields; Word will try to restore the
settings in the dialog box which will destroy your changes.
