There is, I'm afraid, no way to do this automatically. The best you can do
is to wait until editing is complete and the TOC will not have to be updated
again, then unlink it (Ctrl+Shift+F9) and column-select the page numbers
(using Alt+drag) and change the font color.

Hi,
I am tying to find a way to create a TOC (built from TC entries) that shows
TC entry text in red but leader characters and page numbers in black, e,g,
Chapter 1 ...........................1
Chapter 2 ...........................2
I was trying to do that with TOC1 styles, but it seems that I can not apply
the style to just a portion of TOC...Also tried to change the color of TC
fields themselves to red, but they still show in black in the TOC...
I Word 2002 I can do it (somewhat awkwardly) by creating TOC, selecting
portion of TOC entries before leader characters, and changing their color ,
then locking the TOC field to prevent automatic updates. But I need to do
the same in Word 2000, and then I can not select just a portion of TOC - the
whole TOC gets selected.
Obviously I could do it by manually creating each TOC line (without using
TOC field), but I was hoping to take advantage of the TOC field that
automatically "gathers" all TC fields
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
