I have a Word document (under Windows XP) with the first couple of pages
having numbering in roman (i, ii, iii etc) and the remainder restarting in
arabic (1, 2, 3, 4 etc).

This is fine but the table of contents only shows arabic - help!

Hi PeeGee

To get this to work, follow the principles laid down in the following page:

How to set up a document with front matter numbered separately
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NumberingFrontMatter.htm

Hope this helps.

Weird but I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised.  The TOC was only showing
Arabic - but changing the front matter to Roman was a recent change to the
document.  I deleted all the page numbering, set it up from scratch and
yippee - the TOC now works.

Thanks for your support.
