Is it possible to create Extra number list (as in Excel)

I need a number list such as
aa.
ab.
ac.
ad.
ae.

Is that possible?
How can I create a new numbering list?
How can I modify an existing numbering list ?

You can do this with fields. See the "Generate a number sequence like
Excel uses to number columns" section in the article at
http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/MiscFram.htm.
