I've searched through the archive and checked the instuctions, but I
can not find how to reset the numbering. There is a total dismatch
between chapter numbers and page numbering referrring to the chapters.
My tables of Contents looks like:

Table of Contents
xx    3-1       should staty 1-1
xxx    3-2       "                  1-2
Chapter 1    3-1    should stay 1- xx
xxx       3-1              "
xxx      3-1              "
Chapter 2     3-1   should stay 2-1
xxx    3-1              "
2.1 xxx    3-1
2.1 xxx 3-2
Chapter 3    3-1
3.1. xxx    3-1
xxx    3-2
xxx    3-2

It is section 1 for chapter 1,  the section breaks for chapters 2 and 3
are set to restart and they restart but with wrong chapter number.

Thanks for help

Hi gh

I suggest you work through the steps shown at the following page.
I want to include the chapter number with the page number in the Header -
how can I do this?
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/ChapterNumber.htm

Hope this helps.

The chapter number seems to be "3" for all of your chapters? Make
sure, in the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box, to add it to
your top-level numbering/style by selecting it in the "Number style"
box rather than typing it in. See
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html.

Also see http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/ChapterNumber.htm for
instructions on setting up chapter/page numbering correctly.

Yes Stefan I mixed up the outline numbering, (looked good in one
chapter, but did not work as I hopped). thanks!

Sorry Shauna, I have forgotten to mention that all my trials ended in
soemthing like 3.1-1, with double numbering.

Thanks
Best regards
Georg
