Indentation of figure label in Table of Figures

I am busy with my masters disseration. I can't format the "figures" text in
the Table of Figures, so that I can modify the style to automatically indent
the figures. The problem is caused by the absence of a TAB between the word
"figure" (the label) and the name of the figure. How can I get a TAB inserted
automatically (as is the case with a Table of Contents)?

You can certainly set a hanging indent for the Caption style, but you
would have to add the tab character manually. For existing captions,
you can use Find and Replace. I'm assuming here that the caption
number (SEQ field) is followed by a space. Then the goal is to replace
that space with a tab character. As far as I can tell, two steps are
required:

1. Press Alt+F9 to display field codes.
Find what: ^d SEQ
Replace with: ^&^t

Click Replace All. Hide field codes (press Alt+F9 again).

2. Find what: "^t " [a tab followed by a space; don't include the
quotation marks]
Replace with: ^t

Click Replace All.

Finally, set a hanging indent in the style used for the entry in the
table of figures. Update the TOF.
