Hello,

In Office 2003, it was possible to define footer/header with selections
for page numbering. In 2007 version of Word, you can only choose styles for
header/footer and it seems it is not possible to change/modify a style. I
want to choose a footer style but I want to have Page X of Y of styling. How
can I do that? thank you.

Hi Athena,

From the Insert Ribbon, click Page Number|Bottom of Page, scroll down and select one of the 'X of Y' formats. Then, if the default
style doesn't suit your needs, click 'Home and expand the 'Styles' tab. Now click on the drop-down arrow for the 'Footer' style and
modify it to suit.

Cheers

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I now know how to change the style. But I
still
need to know how to change page format from Page X to Page X of Y
format
within style formatting. There is no page numbering style in style
formatting selections!

Hi Athena,

Did you insert the page number using one of the 'X of Y' formats as suggested?

To convert and existing numbering scheme from 'Page X' to 'PageX of Y', you can add ' of ', then press Ctrl-F9 to create a new
field, type 'NUMPAGES' between the field braces (ie {NUMPAGES}) and press F9 to update.

Cheers

In addition to what Macropod told you, this will work as well...

Instead of choosing one of the Header or Footer commands, select the Page
Number command. You can then choose Top of Page or Bottom of Page, and
within that gallery there is a selection of Page X of Y.

Since the numbers are bolded, you can format the numbers for not bold, and
then save the selection as a New Building Block, which will enable you to
quickly re-use the format again at a later date.
