MS Office Forum / Word / Numbering / May 2007appendix caption numbering not sequential
I am using Word 2003, SP2 I made my Heading 7 Appendix A. I want all tables in the in Appendix to number sequentially A-1, A-2, A-3, etc. This works until it reaches another Level 2 heading and then the numbering starts over at A-1. I have toggled the field codes and deleted the 7 after the s like this : { \* ARABIC \s } and that works until I update the document, then it goes back to A-1. Any help? That may be the problem Stefan. I am using Headings 1-4 in the Appendix. I made Heading 7 Appendix A. I should use Headings 8 and 9 for the paragraph numbering in that section. But, I need another heading level. Anyways, thank you for your help. Well, you could use Headings 6--9 for appendix numbering. Of course, this assumes that you need no more than five levels for the numbering of body text headings. Anyways, thank you for your help. If I used Heading 7 for App A, then I only have Heading 8 and 9 to use for the Appendix paragraphs. Correct?
