I am using Office 2007 and when I go to add page numbers the options are all
greyed out.  So following the on line help I go to look for a .dotx. which
does't exsist & have even re-installed twice. In word help it says the
following to fix the problem:

1. Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Word Options.
2. Click Add-Ins.
3. In the Manage list, select Disabled Items, and then click Go.
4. Click Building Blocks.dotx, and click Enable.
5. Restart Word.

This "Block.dotx" file isn't listed in the disabled or enabled items

All other installations have worked and users can add page numbers to their
documents, everyone except me.

What have I missed?

Have you tried deleting the building blocks file? See:

You are welcome. However, in this case you should really be thanking
Cindy Meister!  :-)
