Page numbering across multiple files

I have a book that's divided up into multiple files, due to the large number
of images that are used, and am trying to use field formulas to create
continuous page numbering across the different .doc's.  I have not gotten it
to work yet.

Each document has a { PAGE } field at the end of the body text that is
colored white to not print, and bookmarked as LastPageNum.

Each document (except the first one, of course) also has a field formula
within the footer that has the following code (including the field brackets):

{ = { PAGE } + { INCLUDETEXT "Master & Front End.doc" LastPageNum \*
CharFormat \* ! } }

The only result I've been able to get from this is:

!Syntax Error, {

Please help!

Thanks,
Courtney Cooper

I'm not really interested in using macros for this, but thanks anyway.

Hi Courtney

See the section "Continuous Page Numbering across separate files" at
