I'm currently running microsoft word from XP. I'm attempting to add numbers
to my document but under the "insert" colum where "page number" is located.
The "page number" is not darkened and appears to be inactive. How to I turn
on "page number"?

Do you mean Word 2007 from Windows XP, or Word 2002 from Office XP? If
it is the former, then you probably need to delete the "Building
Blocks.dotx" file as described in the "Everyone" section under "B2TR
Issues" at http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/09/18/43 .

Calvin,
Perhaps you are in web layout view. Go to the view menu and choose page
layout view.
Does that help?
