Actually I do have the sample in word format but I'm not dare to upload it
to the newsgroup. Please advise if the upload is helping to solve the
problem.
Thank you.

I got similar problem. I just upgrded from Word2K3 SP2 to SP3 during mid
OCT07. When I open my existing document created by Office 2000, within the
document, some pages numbering bullet were disappeared but some pages had
correct numbering bullet. When I opened that document again with Word2K3
SP2 on other PC, every numbering bullet were correct. Is there any patch to
fix this problem?

The problem does not in SP3 but it was that document. After my investigate,
you should try right click on that line with outline number missing and
click menu
"Bullets and Numberings" , it will be numbered tab, change to outline
numbered tab and choose the style that you want it to be. This one action
will correct all the missing bullet number for you. I doubt that the word
document was created with some error long time ago but it did not show up
when we use Offfice 2000 or Office 2003 SP2.

Yes right, actually I had a test on that and found out it can be fixed by
what you said.
However my concern is if I will upgrade all our computers to the latest
service pack. It will turns out no one can see the bullet or numbering
which from some of the existing documents. Moreover our firm used
to create reports over 100 pages and it's gonna be hard for our staffs
to follow it one by one or review everytime before they want to reprint
something.
I think there must be something MS can do to solve our problem & make
life easier.
Cheers

I have a similar problem, only with a Word Doc apparently created in Word2k3
SP1, loosing its numbers when opened in Word2k3 SP3. This has large problem
potential accross the corporate environment where we have large numbers of
documents created in various service pack versions.
Still trying to acertain the factors, but seems Office SP3 related as only
PC's with this service pack have the issue/ Any further info on what in SP3
is making this occure?
Can I check the Word version a document is created in, including service
pack? (The properties tells me created in Microsoft Word, but not the SP
level).
Thanks,
Ed.

Hi William,
There was a Word numbering issue addressed in Office 2003 Service Pack 3 that's described here.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897316?FR=1
In a document where you're seeing this did you try the change suggested by TG2001 when you first posted to see if that applies in
your case?
