Good morning,

BACKGROUND:
Using Word 2000 on a long tech document (240 pgs), 16 chapters.  Each
chapter restarts heading numbering.  Tables and figures are set up to
include the Heading 1 number, plus sequential number (i.e. Figure 15.1, 15.2
etc).  All 16 chapters are part of the same document section.

PROBLEM:
One chapter skips caption sequential numbers.  Figure 15.1, Figure 15.3,
etc.  I've tried everything, and can't make any progress.  The rest of the
document is fine.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Mark R-S

Hi Mark

Three things to try:

1. Make sure there are no un-accepted tracked changes in the document.

2. Make sure that none of the fields are in hidden text.

3. Do Alt-F9 to expose all the field codes in the document. Once they're revealed, you can search for them (eg search for SEQ
MyList). Check them all to make sure that they look the same.

Hope this helps.
