I am using automatic caption numbering (with Chapter
number), but the numbers are incrementing by 2 instead of
1; i.e., figures are numbered 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-5, 2-7, 2-
9, 2-11, etc. I am tracking changes also. Does anyone what
is causing this problem. (Word 2000 being used.)

You have to accept/reject the changes to straighten out the numbering.
