I have had a problem in Word 2002 with creating outline
lists.  I start my list - "1)" and type data. Then I hit
Enter, Tab. I want the next line to be "a.", but I can't
get it to do that. It gives me a "2)".  CAn anyone tell me
how to fix this ?  This works fine on my PC running Word
2000. I can't get it to work in 2002. Is there a setting
somewhere ?

Set up your outline list numbering as detailed in
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. To be able
to use Tab and Shift+Tab to demote/promote levels, check the box for "Set
left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" on the AutoFormat As You
Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect Options. You can also use
Alt+Shift+Left/Right arrow to promote/demote.
