Word 2002 Page Numbering Again?

I am having almost the same problem with Word 2002. I have all of the
patches up to date but I still get documents that are numbered 1of 1,
2 of 2, 3 of 3... The strange thing is that the same document will
print correctly once in a while. I have tried 3 different printers,
epson, HP and Xerox and they all do the same thing. I have tried some
of the workarounds on the MVPS pages but they have not solved this
problem. I am not sure if it is a coincidence but this seems to have
become more of a problem this week as 3 of my 25 users started
reporting this to me 3 days ago. I do automatically apply patches to
the OS and Office. All users are on Office 2002.

I too have started seeing this problem on many of my user's PC, including my
own. It seems that my computers that I have not applied the latest batch of
Office updates to do not experience this problem. I tried updating two of
them with all the latest patches, and two started having the problem, and
one did not. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove the patches that I
know of.

I also tried reinstalling office XP on my computer (at the MS tech's
request), and now that it is reinstalled and repatched, it does not seem to
have this problem anymore. That still doesn't explain why these latest
patches are breaking the page numbering on so many computers.

Maybe if we raise enough stink about it, MS will respond... =)
