I have a document that i have applied a customized
outlined numbering style (Es: 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc...). In
the document Heading 1, 2, 3 etc are bold (both the
numbering and the text) However, when I create the TOC I
would like to see the numbering and text just as it is in
the document; however, I dont want any of it bolded. To
date, I have been unsuccessful at unbolding the outline
numbering within the TOC (i.e. numbers are bold, but text
is not bold... i want both unbolded)... it looks like
because it is pulling the numbering from the document, it
is also pulling the formatting applied to that document...
is there anyway to disassociate the formatting within the
document and the formatting within the TOC? Appreciate any
insight! Thanks! =)

Hi Deb

What version of Word are you using?  Some versions apparently do pick up any
explicit font formatting on the number, so my guess is that you have got the
font of the number marked explicitly as bold, as well as having bold on the
paragraph style font.

You could try removing the bold from the number (modify the numbering scheme
for all the headings from the Heading 1 style, to make sure you don't mess
up the numbering), but I have a feeling that even if you delete the 'font
style' setting (bold, italic, etc.) you might not be able to get back to an
'undefined' font on the number this way and you may find you have just set
it permanently non-bold. If that's the case you'd need to set the style
numbering up again.
