Hi

I am trying to edit the cross reference so only the
number appears. For example the cross reference say
Figure 1 and I delete the word Figure but when I see the
print preview the words appears again. Somebody knows how
to edit this thing so it will not appears for a
particular case

Thanks,

Paola

Here's the answer I posted to a similar question in this NG on December 9.

It's fiddly, but it can be done. You have to insert the cross-references in
their full form first because inserting the cross-reference is what creates
the bookmark in the caption. So:

1. Type "Please refer to figures Figure X-Figure Z" ("Figure X" and "Figure
Z" being cross-references).

2. Go to the caption for Figure X and select just the number.

3. Go to Insert | Bookmark, check the box for "Hidden bookmarks," and select
the radio button for "Location."

4. The bookmark that is selected will be the one for Figure X. Press Add.
The bookmark will now be around just the number.

5. Repeat for Figure Z, then select the two cross-references and F9 to
update the fields.
