Footnotes in large tables

In Word 2002-
I have a very large table - spanning over several pages

I have footnotes which I need to appear at the bottom of
each of the relevant pages - NOT at the end of the table a
few pages on!
Is happening because the table is spread over several
pages?
Is there a way of leaving enough space at the end of each
page for any footnotes but keeping the table continuous
over several pages??

Many thanks for any help which will be gratefully received

If you insert your footnote directly after the text you want to refer to,
*inside* the table, it should appear at the bottom of that page, not after
the table.

If this is not working, make sure that you are really inserting a footnote
and not an endnote (scrutinize the Insert Footnote dialog box).

If the footnote is showing up on the next page, or seems to be hopping
around, see this page for reasons why a footnote might get pushed to a
different page than its reference number:

If neither of those helps, post back.
