i want to create a list as follows:
1     heading 1
2     heading 2
2.2   heading 2.2
2.2.1 heading 2.2.1       etc
but i cannot get my level 3 heading to take its cue from
the previous number, my numbering starts at 1.whatever.2,
instead of 1.1.1, or 2.2.1 or 3.5.1 etc.
Please help?
i am in word 2003 and have normal paragraph settings
Thanks

Check and make sure that all of your numbers are using
the same format.  Under format/bullets and numbering,
make sure that the same box is highlighted for all
numbers.
