Using ALT F9 will switch the display between field name and actual number, but under no circumstances would the number itself print. Also, when working in page layout view, the page number is displayed but switching to print preview displays the field name once again. I would appreciate any other suggestions. If you don't have "Field codes" checked on the Print tab of Tools | Options, then I cannot think of any reason why you would be seeing field codes in Print preview or on printout. Please note that there is a distinction between the Print tab and the View tab where you had already cleared the "Field codes" check box. -- Suzanne S.
