I always try it on plain paper first; difference is that on plain paper first line of printing starts at 2.1cm below top-of-page; on label paper starts at 1.5cm below top-of-page (1.5cm is the Top Margin value in the set-up). However on plain paper and label paper, the actual vertical pitch is still 3.6cm (when set value is 3.8cm). Sounds like the paper feed mechanism of the printer is shot.  SignatureHope this helps.
